David Dahl (Industrial Design, University of Cincinnati) is based in Los Angeles, where he has been designing and building furniture for 30 years.
David likes to interpret functional parameters in a new and intriguing way. “This often starts with a detail; a line, a joint, a clever use of material,” he says. As an experienced woodworker, he also looks for ways to apply basic principles of style, comfort, and utility to all of his designs. When creating healthcare solutions, he says, “I think about my father and the time I spent with him during a long hospital stay. Healthcare environments are no longer cold and sterile. I try to infuse a more home-like or hospitality-like feeling into my designs.”
