“Healthcare environments are no longer cold and sterile. I try to infuse a more home-like or hospitality-like feeling into my designs.”

When designing for healthcare, David Dahl keeps his dad in mind. “I think about my father and the time I spent with him during a long hospital stay,” he says.

Noting that “healthcare environments are no longer cold and sterile,” Dahl feels empowered to “infuse a more home-like or hospitality-like feeling” into his designs, the kind of ambience his father would appreciate.

A University of Cincinnati graduate and an experienced woodworker, Dahl looks for ways to apply basic principles of style, comfort, and utility in new and intriguing ways. “This often starts with a detail—a line, a joint, a clever use of material.” From there he goes on to create solutions, like Reliant products, that embody his personal and professional goals.
